It may be cold outside, but all 21 branches of the Montgomery County Public Libraries are warm and inviting. Besides lots of books and use of computers, copying machines and meeting rooms, there are a multitude of things to keep people of all ages busy.
Inside, there are social events and clubs for teens, chess and other board games, yoga classes, book clubs in a variety of languages and genres and even a quilting club. Of course, there are numerous story time events for young children.
Want to talk to a master gardener or a financial advisor? How about getting advice on finding a job or using your smartphone or computer? There’s a library for that.
They even have a songwriters workshop where you perform your nearly complete song and your peers and instructor help you.
And yes, most – if not all – of these offerings are free.

Feel like watching a movie, listening to music or reading a digital book? Montgomery County Public Libraries lets its card holders do all that without even leaving their home.
If you want to watch a movie without paying for Netflix, Hula or any of the other streaming services, check out Kanopy As long as you have a Montgomery County library card, there are hundreds of movies, documentaries and television shows to watch.
That same library card enables you to enter the digital word and borrow audiobooks, ebooks, comics, movies, magazines and music. Hoopla allows card holders the ability to stream titles immediately, downloading them onto your phone or tablet. It also offers movies and television shows.
The libraries also offer masks and COVID tests for free.
If you don’t already have a library card, sign up for one at your local library. Anyone who lives, works or goes to school in Montgomery County is eligible.
