Bladensburg Man Charged In Baby’s Death

Terron Christopher Matasaran, 36, of Bladensburg was charged with second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse in connection with the death of a seven-month baby he was babysitting.

On Sept. 23, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) personnel responded to a call for an unresponsive baby boy in the 11600 block of Stewart Lane, according to Montgomery County Police.

Matasarn was a friend of the baby’s family. He reported that the infant had fallen, and he called the child’s mother, who was at work, according to police. The mother returned home and noticed her baby was unresponsive. She called 911 and began CPR.

Emergency personnel arrived, and the baby was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

An autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner discovered that the child had suffered a head injury and rib fractures. That office ruled death a homicide.

On Tuesday, officers from the Montgomery County Police Task Force, along with the U.S. Marshals Capital Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrested Matasaran at his job in Bladensburg.

He is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. His preliminary hearing is set for March 28.
