Blair Student Takes Home Silver Medal…But Not at the Olympics

Montgomery Blair High School student Kian Dhawan, of Silver Spring, has a silver medal to brag about. But it didn’t come at the Paris Olympics.

Dhawan’s medal was awarded by The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) in its USA Biolympiad National Finals held at Marymount University in Virginia.

Almost 12,000 students nationwide registered for this biology contest.

CEE called the winners “future leaders in bio-based careers.”

The finals lasted 10 days and involved intensive theoretical and practical tutorials. The students studied with leading biologists in the fields of cellular and molecular biology, plant anatomy and physiology, animal anatomy and physiology, genetics and evolution, ecology, ethology and biosystematics.
