Businessman David Blair announced Sunday morning that he will be requesting a full recount, following the latest vote count in the Democratic race for Montgomery County Executive.
“After several weeks of counting and virtually all votes recorded, the Associated Press has declared this race too close to call. Given the extremely close margins, we will be requesting a full recount and are hopeful that the outcome will be in our favor,” Blair said in a statement.

As of Saturday evening, incumbent Marc Elrich has 55,469 (39.2%) votes to Blair’s 55,427 (39.17%). Elrich leads Blair by only 42 votes.
The Montgomery County Board of Elections said in a tweet 34 ballots remain to be scanned and they will be counted Sunday.
While the race is headed for a recount, Elrich claimed victory in a statement.
I am honored to be the Democratic nominee for County Executive. I want to thank the voters. I love this county and care about our residents so very deeply. This primary has been a long journey. Thank you also to @777Vote staff for your tireless work. pic.twitter.com/Fq9eaV9vyy
