Led by its caring and compassionate staff, the Ingleside Engaged Social Day Program has continued excelling in its central goal of energizing and uplifting those living with mild cognitive impairment or the early stages of dementia.
Ingleside Engaged is one of the newer programs at Ingleside at King Farm, having been developed in the last five years and growing exponentially due to the demand for this type of intentional and therapeutic model of social opportunity for individuals living with neurocognitive change. The program represents a concentrated effort to use consistent physical and social engagement to help instill a renewed sense of purpose, passion, and connection in those participating.
Maureen Charlton, BSW, CVW, CADDCT Director of Memory Support Services and Programming, has been critical to the success of Ingleside Engaged, helping to curate an ever-changing program agenda that incorporates a wide range of dynamic activities from gardening and afternoon walks to word games and invigorating exercises, all in the name of maximizing the merits of a wellness approach.
“At the heart of Ingleside Engaged is our ever-growing understanding of how consistent physical and social engagement can help people maintain better cognitive function and overall health, even into late adulthood,” said Charlton. “My staff and I fully believe that Ingleside Engaged presents a way for participants to enjoy a higher level of connectivity and renewed purpose with the people around them.”
Taking place Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Ingleside Engaged agenda shifts every day, introducing creative new activities which maintain the interests and spark the passions of participating residents. Another positive byproduct of the program is that this daily engagement also provides resident caregivers with a welcome respite.
Now, with several years of proven success under its belt, the Ingleside Engaged Program is expanding. Ingleside at King Farm’s sister community, Westminster at Lake Ridge in Lake Ridge, Va, has celebrated the official opening of its very own Ingleside Engaged Social Day program in early March.
The Ingleside Engaged Program at both communities is open to the public, and accepting new participants.
