Board of Elections to Review County Executive Term Limit Petition Signatures

The Board of Elections issued a statement Friday regarding the recent submission of 12 thousand plus signatures on a petition to limit the County Executive to two terms.

The Board acknowledged receipt of the materials to amend the County Charter. On Thursday, the Committee for Better Government completed the necessary Petition Fund Report and filed it with the state Board of Elections.

As of Friday, the County Board of Elections will have 20 days to validate the signatures.

A minimum of 10 thousand valid signatures must be confirmed for the question to be on the ballot in November’s General Election. Additional signatures must be submitted by July 29.

The Board will submit an update when they have finished processing the original 12,ooo signatures on the petition.
