Montgomery County, in partnership with Por Nuestra Salud y Bienestar and Westfield Wheaton, will be hosting another “Boosterama” event at Westfield Wheaton mall on Feb. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m.
The event is an effort from the county to increase the number of residents with boosters by providing the vaccine in places that are convenient. Those who attend do not need an appointment and adults and children ages 12 and older can also get their first doses.
The vaccination event will be held inside on the first floor near DICKS’S Sporting Goods and the mall’s entrance 14. Event organizers will also choose eight individuals who get vaccinated at random to receive a $25 gift card. The winners will be able to use the cards at Westfield Wheaton.

“While about half of our eligible population has received boosters, we’re seeing a slowdown in the number of eligible people getting boosters,” Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich said in a press release. “There is a clear correlation between being vaccinated and the reduced impact of severe COVID-19 symptoms. The bottom line is that vaccines work. Please don’t delay getting this extra protection if you still need, and are eligible for, your booster.
84% of Montgomery County residents are fully vaccinated and 95% have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The county said that more than 407,600 booster doses have been administered at county-operated vaccination clinics, representing 20% of all boosters given across the state. However, only about half of the residents who are eligible for boosters have received one.
People who received their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna shot at least five months ago are now eligible for a booster. For those who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, eligibility for a booster starts after two months.
Residents who cannot attend the “Boosterama” event can schedule an appointment for the vaccine at GoVaxMoco.com.
