Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed after being struck by a cargo ship at 1:27 a.m. Tuesday
Multiple cars fell into the Patapsco River according to fire officials. Rescue teams are searching for “at least 7” and “as many as 20” people according to officials.
Governor Wes Moore has declared a state of emergency.
Baltimore mayor Brandon M. Scott called it “an unthinkable tragedy” during a press conference Tuesday morning. “We have to first and foremost pray for all of those impacted,” he said.

The bridge opened in 1977 after five years of construction and spans 1.6 miles.
