The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is holding an in-person public workshop to discuss proposed sidewalk improvements to Sandy Spring Road (MD 198). The workshop will take place at Burtonsville Elementary School on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.
The proposed changes will add a 5-foot-wide, ADA-compliant, concrete sidewalk to bridge the gap between Dino Drive and McKnew Road in Burtonsville.
Currently in its preliminary design phase with plans to finalize the modification in 2025, the project is scheduled to be constructed in late 2025 or 2026.
At the workshop, MCDOT will review the project details, cost and schedule before seeking public testimony and input. Several factors, including opinions presented on Aug. 28, may influence the project’s final design.
