The Montgomery County Board of Elections is now accepting candidate filings for the 2026 Gubernatorial Primary Election. The filing period runs from Feb. 25, 2025, to 9 p.m. on Feb. 24, 2026.
Candidates for county offices must file a Certificate of Candidacy at the election office in Gaithersburg. Positions on the ballot include County Executive, County Council, State’s Attorney, Clerk of the Circuit Court, Register of Wills, Sheriff, Board of Education (Districts 1, 3, 5, and At-Large), and seats on the Republican and Democratic Central Committees.
Appointments are required for filing. The election office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call 240-777-8610 or email CandidateFiling@montgomerycountymd.gov.
