It’s been an eventful season for the NHL’s Washington Capitals. In the midst of celebrating the franchise’s 50th year, the team is having a breakout season and the franchise’s greatest ever player, Alex Ovechkin, is approaching Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goal scoring record.
Caps fans and passers by in downtown Bethesda Wednesday came out for a “Shop for the Cause with Caps Care” pop-up event featuring music, meet-and-greets, a photo opportunity with team mascot, Slapshot, and a mural reveal, with proceeds benefiting the Capital Impact Fund.
Former Caps player and Monumental Sports Network analyst Alan May and Monumental Sports Network Capitals pregame/postgame host Alexa Landestoy were on site to meet fans and for the unveiling of a mural by artist Hiba Alyawer.
