A car struck Davis Library in Bethesda on Tuesday afternoon, causing a gas leak.
The leak, which occurred after the car struck a gas main on the outside of the building, forced occupants to evacuate. According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) spokesperson Pete Piringer, the daycare in the building was also evacuated.
There were no reported injuries as a result of the leak or the crash that caused it.
As of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, the gas had been shut off. There is no further information on what caused the car to crash into the building or whether the driver will face charges.
The library is back open and available to visit, with no changes to scheduled programming going forward.
