He’s the host with the most. Literally.
Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday will be CBS Sports’ James Brown record 12th time hosting the pregame show for America’s most-watched sporting event.
The longtime Montgomery County resident told MCM how “blessed” he feels being entrusted to host the show a dozen times. He said when preparing, he relies on the teachings of his legendary DeMatha High School basketball coach. “As my high school coach Morgan Wootten always emphasized, I try to stay focused on the fundamentals in my presentation. Coach would say ‘there is no such thing as new fundamentals. Fundamentals are tried and true,'” Brown said.
The game in Las Vegas is a rematch from four years ago when Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV.
Brown added, “I try to be well informed about the principal storylines and strategy of the two teams to elicit the best from my colleagues. There will be legions of casual fans tuned into the big game and I try to keep them in mind when discussing the game.”
The pregame show starts at 2 p.m. ET. Brown will be joined by Phil Simms, Bill Cowher, Nate Burleson, Boomer Esiason, JJ Watt and others. The game starts at 6:30 p.m.
