Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will celebrate National Vinyl Record Day on Saturday, Aug. 12 with variety of festivities at the Brigadier General Charles E. McGee Library.
“Just for the Record—A Vinyl Day” will feature free events geared towards all ages and will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the library in Silver Spring.
The events, which include a scratch battle, will commemorate vinyl records and DJ culture. Attendees can purchase vinyl records, CDs and books.
“Music, in its various forms, brings people together, and the library is the perfect space to provide this type of event,” MCPL Director Anita Vassallo said in a press release about the event.
Songwriting and DJ workshops, dance parties, children’s storytime and a panel discussion will provide fun activities for all generations.
Some activities require prior registration. Click here to find a complete schedule of events and how to register.
MCPL is partnering with Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, Inc., Mid-Atlantic Scratch League, Levine Music and Classroom 2 Community to put on the events.
