Friday marks the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month.
County Executive Marc Elrich announced weekly festivities as part of the month-long celebration. Elrich will honor Latin and Hispanic immigrants and visit small businesses owned by Latinos and Hispanics, including Downtown Boxing Club and Love & Flour Bakery in Silver Spring and Tacombi in Bethesda.
Environmental-friendly festivals will be held every Friday for the month, coordinated by the Department of Environment Protection, the Wheaton Urban District, the Wheaton Arts & Entertainment District, and the County Office of Community Partners. The events will take place at the Marian Fryer Town Plaza in Wheaton from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The weekly festivities will begin Friday with a focus of “Preparing Your Garden for Winter.”
The environmental events will include music, drinks, and giveaways.
