A male juvenile was charged with making threats of mass destruction for allegedly calling in bomb threats over the phone to Wootton High School faculty on Nov. 27, 2023.
According to Montgomery County Police’s Behavioral Assessment and Administration Unit, the juvenile called the school at 8:01 a.m. and stated that bombs were placed in specific areas of the school that is located in the 2100 block of Wootton Parkway.
School personnel then called 911. Community Engagement officers, 1st District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel helped evacuate the school as K-9 units searched the school.
No bombs were found, according to police.
Police officers spoke with witnesses and conducted search warrants that led them to the juvenile male. Officers also determined the suspect had made bomb threats against schools in Howard County, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Missouri.
He was charged with threat of mass violence, telephone misuse and other related charges. His case was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.
He faces criminal charges in other states.
