Chef José Andrés is the winner of the 2019 Time For Kids Person of the Year.
Andrés founded World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit group that has provided millions of meals to the survivors of natural disasters and other emergencies.
Andrés and his WCK team served meals to thousands in the Bahamas after it was devastated by Hurricane Dorian in September. In October, they traveled to California to feed people affected by sweeping wildfires including the firefighters.
Albania is the latest beneficiary of Andrés’s humanitarian efforts. A major earthquake hit the European country in November.
In January, the world-famous chef who lives in Bethesda, provided free meals to federal employees during the government shutdown.
Andrés owns restaurants in Bethesda including Jaleo and Beefsteak.

After receiving the honor, Andrés tweeted at President Trump and the First Lady.
