A Chevy Chase resident is $50,000 richer after picking up his winnings at the Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore recently.
He won playing the Bonus Match game when his numbers were drawn on Jan. 31. He bought six draws for $4 and matched the fifth line of personal numbers exactly for the win.
Part of the game’s bonus is that there’s a discount for buying in bulk. A single combination costs $1 while three combinations cost $2, four cost $3, six cost $4, seven cost $5 and nine cost $6.
The man purchased his winning ticket at Talbert’s Ice & Beverage Service in Bethesda.
And what of his winnings? He told lottery officials the win helps put retirement a little closer. He also plans to give his wife $10,000 of the windfall.

A Germantown woman traveled to the Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Feb. 7 to claim her winnings. She won $50,000 playing the Money Drop scratch-off game with a ticket she purchased at Twinbrook Deli, Beer & Wine on Veirs Mill Road in Rockville.
Maryland allows lottery winners to remain anonymous.
