A Montgomery County District Court judge ruled Monday that Mackenzie Rose Colgan is not competent to stand trial in the drowning death of her 3-month-old daughter in Chevy Chase.
On Dec. 8, first responders went to the 7300 block of Summit Avenue after the child’s father reported Colgan had drowned their baby while giving her a bath, according to police. The infant was pronounced dead at a hospital. Colgan, 37, was charged with first-degree murder.
During Monday’s bond hearing, a judge ordered Colgan to undergo a psychiatric evaluation while in jail according to the Washington Post.
