Police said a Germantown man has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing minors at a Derwood church.
Ervin Jeovany Alfaro Lopez, 33, was arrested on Monday, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
The victims were 6-12 years old at the time of the offenses, and Alfaro Lopez was 25-27 years old at the time, police stated. He is being held without bond.
Detectives are concerned there may be more victims and ask anyone who may have been a victim of Alfaro Lopez to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400.
Detectives started investigating in May of last year after a victim reported being sexually abused by a teacher at a Derwood church in the 15700 block of Crabbs Branch Way, according to police. Following that complaint, three more victims came forward in September of last year and this January, reporting Alfaro Lopez sexually abused them at the church. Each offense happened between 2016-2018, police said.
This month, detectives got an arrest warrant charging Alfaro Lopez with multiple offenses including sex abuse of a minor, second-degree sex offense and third-degree sex offense, according to MCPD.
