CNN’s Laura Coates & Comfort Cases of Gaithersburg sponsored a coat drive in November during National Adoption Awareness Month.
Hundreds of coats were dropped off Monday at the National Center for Children and Families in Bethesda, which serves vulnerable children, youth and families.
“I am so overjoyed to have been able to touch the lives of our young people in this way. As a mother, I am so proud of the communities across this nation for coming together to wrap their arms around these incredible kids who need to know they are loved. I cannot wait for us to continue this tradition for years to come,” Coates said.
Comfort Cases was founded by Rob Scheer to “inspire communities to bring dignity and hope to youth in foster care through Comfort, Community, Character, and Compassion,” according to its website. The organization makes sure all children entering a foster home have a proper backpack or suitcase rather than just a pillowcase to store their few possessions.
