In June of 2022, Little Falls Parkway was reconfigured by the Parks and Planning Board. As part of a pilot project, a “road diet” essentially called for vehicles to travel north and south in the two lanes formerly used for northbound traffic. The southbound lanes and the median became a “linear park.”
More than 70% of residents who testified in person at a Parks and Planning hearing in March of 2023 were opposed to the changes. They also launched a petition to return the parkway to pre-pandemic conditions which to date has gathered more than 5500 signatures.
On Tuesday, the County Council will meet to determine what happens next. Here’s what Council President Andrew Friedson said Monday about the situation.
Many residents remain frustrated about the process and have vowed to be in attendance at the Council meeting.
