Councilmember Natali Fani-González will lead a public safety town hall at the Wheaton Library/Recreation Center on Sept. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m., to discuss key issues such as public safety legislation, opioid treatment for youth, and recruitment efforts for police and 911 operators. Officials from the Montgomery County Police Department, the Maryland General Assembly Delegation for Districts 18 and 19, and community organizations will participate.
The town hall will provide updates on legislation from Annapolis, county efforts to establish opioid treatment centers for youth in partnership with the nonprofit Identity, and recruitment initiatives for law enforcement. Speakers include Chief of Police Marc Yamada, Delegates Aaron M. Kaufman, Emily K. Shetty, Jared Solomon, Charlotte A. Crutchfield, Bonnie L. Cullison, Vaughn M. Stewart III, and Senators Jeff Waldstreicher and Ben Kramer. Light refreshments will be provided.
