The County government will be following a holiday schedule for Monday, Dec. 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Here’s a list of what will be open and closed for Christmas.
Schedule changes for Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25
- County offices—Closed.
- MC 311—Closes early on Friday, Dec. 22, with hours 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Closed Dec. 25.
- State offices and courts—Closed.
- State Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations—Closed.
- Libraries—Closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.
- Alcohol Beverage Services— All stores open regular hours on Dec. 24. Closed Dec. 25.
- Department of Permitting Services—Closed.
- Ride On—On Dec. 24, will operate on a Sunday service schedule on until 10 p.m. On Dec. 25, will operate on a Sunday schedule.
- Ride on extRa and Flex—Will not be in service on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.
- Flash—On Dec. 24, will operate a Weekends and Holidays schedule service for the Orange Route until 10 p.m. The Blue Route will not be in service. On Dec. 25, will operate a Weekends and Holidays schedule for the Orange Route. The Blue Route will not be in service.
- MARC Train—Regularly scheduled Penn Line weekend service on Dec. 23-24. No service on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.
- TRiPS Silver Spring commuter store—On Dec. 24, open 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Closed Dec. 25.
- TRiPS mobile commuter store— Closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.
- Metrobus—Will operate on a Sunday schedule on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25. More details at https://www.wmata.com/schedules/timetables/.

- Public Parking Garages, Lots, Curbside Meters—Free on Dec. 25.
- County-provided trash and recycling collections—No collections on Monday, Dec. 25. Collections for the remainder of the week will slide one day, with the final collections on Saturday, Dec. 30.
- Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center— Closes early at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 24. Closed Dec. 25.
- Aquatic Centers— Will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 24. Closed Dec. 25.
- Community Recreation Centers—Closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.
- Senior Centers— Closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.
Additional information for Montgomery Parks facilities
- The Open Parkways program will be extended from Saturday, Dec. 23, through Monday, Jan. 1. During this time, parkways are open to pedestrians and bicyclists and closed to motor vehicles. This impacts: Beach Drive between Connecticut and Knowles Avenue (2.9 miles) from 7 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23, until 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 25; Sligo Creek Parkway between Old Carroll Avenue and Piney Branch Road and between Forest Glen Road and University Boulevard West from 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, through 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 25; Little Falls Parkway between Arlington Road and Dorset Avenue (0.4 miles) will be open 24/7 for recreation and exercise.
- Montgomery Parks Headquarters and Permit Offices—Closed Dec. 25.
- Black Hill Nature Programs and Visitor Center—Closed Dec. 23, Dec. 24-25.
- Brookside Gardens Visitor Center and Conservatory—Closed Dec. 24-25. Garden of Lights closed Dec. 24–25; Garden Railway Exhibit closed Dec. 24-25.
