More than 280,000 citations were issued by Montgomery County-operated speed cameras in Fiscal Year 2018-19 grossing more than $10 million.
MyMCMedia spoke with the County’s Automated Enforcement Manager who explained how the citation data is utilized and why some of the cameras are moved on a weekly basis.
The speed camera program is apart of the county’s Vision Zero initiative to reduce severe and fatal collisions on roads. Vehicles traveling 12 mph above the speed limit are issued citations.
