County Extends Girl Power Contest Deadline to April 11

The Montgomery County Commission for Women has extended the deadline for the 2025 Girl Power Contest. Participants now have until Friday, April 11, to submit their entries.

The contest challenges residents to explore how media influences young girls’ and women’s confidence, ambition, and self-worth. Participants must describe the type of media they would create to inspire and empower women in their community.

The contest welcomes submissions from all Montgomery County residents ages five and older. Participants can submit a short story, poem, drawing, or another creative work. Each person may submit only one entry, and written pieces must not exceed 500 words. Submissions must include the participant’s full name, age, grade and school (if applicable), phone number, and email address. Minors must obtain permission from a parent or guardian. The Commission for Women may use submitted entries for publicity.

Judges will select winners in four categories: elementary, middle, and high school, and adult. Winners will receive recognition on the Commission’s social media platforms, a Girl Power swag bag, a certificate, and an invitation to a recognition ceremony in June.

Participants should submit entries online through the official contest page. While electronic submissions are preferred, participants may also email entries to cfwinfo@montgomerycountymd.gov or mail them to:
