To celebrate World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, the county will host their third annual event to “highlight HIV’s disproportionate impact on Black women[,]” according to the press release.
The Solidarity for Health Equity Breakfast is a free event from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Those interested in attending must register for a ticket.
The Department of Health and Human Services released A Plan to End HIV in Montgomery County in 2020, which “outlines strategies to reduce new HIV transmissions by 90 percent within 10 years.”
Residents are urged to get tested and learn about HIV to be alert for possible symptoms. The Sexual Health and Wellness Services tests for and treats people with HIV.
The event will be in the Silver Spring Civic Building. The Sexual Health and Wellness Services and the Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority are co-sponsoring the breakfast.
