Montgomery County has published its AI Action Plan project to incorporate artificial intelligence in county public services initiatives.
As part of the initiative, the County’s 311 customer service center launched the AI-powered assistant, Monty 2.0. The newly upgraded chatbot can answer non-emergency questions and provide information on county services to residents in dozens of languages. The chatbot is available only on the 311 website.
The Department of Technology and Enterprise Business Solutions (TEBS) developed the Monty 2.0 chatbot and directed the plan for AI tools usage by the county government, according to a County press release.
“By leveraging AI responsibly, we aim to improve public services and drive innovation throughout our community.” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich.
The AI Action Plan consists of several initiatives to be implemented over the next several months, according to the press release. TEBS has established an Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence (AICOE) to focus on implementing effective AI solutions.
The initiatives commit to high ethical standards, maintaining data safety, especially with sensitive and private information. TEBS collaborates with stakeholders and experts to ensure the plan aligns residents’ needs.
