Listening Sessions on Housing Scheduled for September

Montgomery County Council, in collaboration with the Montgomery Planning Department, has announced a series of five in-person listening sessions to discuss the Planning Board’s Attainable Housing Strategies (AHS) recommendations. The sessions are scheduled to begin on Sept. 11, 2024, at the Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center.

These sessions, which will take place across various locations in the county, aim to provide residents with an opportunity to engage directly with planning experts. Attendees will be able to express their concerns, ask questions, and provide feedback on the AHS recommendations, which focus on expanding access to affordable housing in the area.

The listening sessions will be held from 7-9 p.m. on the following dates and locations:

  • Sept. 11: Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center, 1315 Apple Ave., Silver Spring
  • Sept. 12: Wheaton Community Recreation Center, 11701 Georgia Ave., Wheaton
  • Sept. 17: White Oak Community Recreation Center, 1700 April Lane, Silver Spring
  • Sept. 23: Germantown Community Recreation Center, 18905 Kingsview Road, Germantown
  • Sept. 25: Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center, 4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda

For those unable to attend in person, a virtual session will be held on Oct. 2, 2024, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Additional details for the virtual session will be provided closer to the date.

The Council encourages all residents to participate in at least one session to ensure their voices are heard. RSVPs are not required, but those who cannot attend are invited to share their feedback with the Council via email or phone.

Residents can find contact information for councilmembers, including phone numbers and email addresses, on the ‘Contact Us’ page of the council website. To determine which councilmember represents your district, visit the ‘Find My Councilmember’ section on the website.
