Montgomery County Public Libraries wants to help students get creative this spring break.
The libraries will host animation workshops for kids aged 10-15 from March 25 through March 29. The free sessions will be led by Leila Cabib, a cartoonist and animator whose work has been published in The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal, the county said Thursday.
“The arts play a pivotal role in fostering self-expression, individuality and emotional exploration,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “These animation workshops help equip our youth with invaluable skills, empowering them to creatively express themselves and explore their feelings.”
The Maryland State Arts Council provided a grant that was used to fund part of the program. Participants will be given art supplies for use in their session, the county said.
Sessions are scheduled at the Gaithersburg, Twinbrook and Rockville Memorial libraries, among others. Participants must register to attend the workshops. For more information, click here.
