The county’s African American Health Program will host a community meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 7, in observance of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. The meeting features open discussions with experts, healthcare workers, and people whose lives have been impacted by the disease.
National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day was created to spotlight the disproportionate impact HIV and AIDS has on African Americans. A recent report by the county health and human services department shows Blacks account for 62% of HIV diagnoses, while only representing 17% of the county population.
National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is a day to address the impact of HIV in Black communities. Join for “A Real Conversation about Blacks and HIV/AIDS” on Tuesday, 2/7/23 from 5:30-7:30 pm.
