Montgomery County will be providing resources for mental health, food assistance and childcare services in the wake of federal workforce reductions enacted by the Trump administration.
Those in need of mental health assistance can contact the 24 Hour Crisis Center at 240-777-4000 or in person at 1301 Piccard Drive in Rockville. For those who need it, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is also available via call or text.
Losing health insurance provided by your employer may make you eligible for special enrollment outside of the open enrollment season. To determine eligibility and apply, visit the Maryland Health Connection website.
Food distribution programs will run in the coming weeks as the County aims to support those in need. A calendar of those programs can be found here. For older individuals who may need transportation assistance, food providers such as Manna Food Center, Bethesda HELP and So What Else can provide delivery services to homes.
Information about Free and Reduced-price Meals (FARMS) for students can be found at the Montgomery County Public Schools website.
Parents looking for child care can access the LOCATE: Child Care website or fill out a Child Care Referral Request Form. Referrals can also be received over the phone by calling 877-261-0060. Bilingual services are provided.
