County Records 66 New COVID-19 Cases, Zero Deaths

The Maryland Department of Health on Wednesday reported 66 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County, bringing the total to 17,976 since the first case was reported in March.

Since Friday, the number of new cases reported each day has been declining. Coronavirus-related hospitalizations in the county have continued to hover just below 90 patients for the last week, and the percentage of positive tests has remained under 3%.

Confirmed cases across Maryland climbed to 92,426 Wednesday — an increase of 572 in 24 hours. The tally of daily new cases has also decreased statewide since the end of last week.

COVID-19 claimed the lives of six more Marylanders, the state’s health department reported, bringing the death toll to 3,402 since the pandemic began.

While no new deaths were recorded in Montgomery County on Wednesday, the county continues to lead the state in COVID-19 fatalities with 755. Prince George’s County, however, has had almost 5,200 more cases.
