Several county recreation centers are asking residents to donate new or gently used basketball shoes to “help get under-resourced athletes on the basketball court,” according to Montgomery County Recreation’s Twitter page.
The recreation centers, in partnership with the youth sports charity group Leveling the Playing Field, are accepting basketball shoes that will be used for underprivileged kids to play sports. The shoes can be dropped off in donation bins at the following recreation centers:
- Bauer Drive Community Recreation Center
- Clara Barton Community Center
- Damascus Community Center
- East County Community Center
- Germantown Community Recreation Center
- Good Hope Community Center
- Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center
- Longwood Community Center
- Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center
- Mid-county Community Recreation Center
- Nancy H. Dacek North Potomac Community Recreation Center
- Plum Gar Community Center
- Potomac Community Recreation Center
- Ross Boddy Neighborhood Recreation Center
- Upper County Community Center
- Wheaton Recreation Center
- White Oak Community Recreation Center
- Wisconsin Place Community Center
