Montgomery County’s unemployment numbers remained at a 33-year low, according to the July figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The jobless rate in the county sits at 1.5%, which matches numbers from previous months. Also, the numbers match the lowest unemployment rate since 1990.
This is the first time in county history that the unemployment numbers stayed this low for consecutive months. The county’s unemployment rate decreased despite nationwide unemployment ratesĀ rising from 3.5 percent to 3.8%.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics data reveals consistent improvement from the county as it continues recovering from the pandemic. The unemployment rate has dropped 7.2% since May 2020, when it was an all-time high.
