Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for April 6
The Maryland Department of Health reported 72 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Tuesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 67,375.
As of April 5, the county reported that 109 people were hospitalized with COVID-19.
Montgomery County recorded three new coronavirus-related fatalities Tuesday, bringing the death toll in the county to 1,438.
The county has a rolling seven-day average of 3.24% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.16 from Monday’s average rate of 3.4%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 21 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.
Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services clinics are currently vaccinating Phase 1 (1A-1C) and Phase 2 (2A and 2B). All residents age 16 and older may preregister for the vaccine at a county-run vaccine clinic.
According to Montgomery County health officials, 20.3% of the county’s residents are fully vaccinated for COVID-19; 36% have received their first dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna two-dose vaccine.
Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities but not in total cases. Prince George’s County has 1,365 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 79,087 cases.
Somerset County on the Eastern Shore has the highest cases per capita at 97 cases per 1,000 residents. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the second-highest cases per capita at 93.2 cases per 1,000 residents.

Tuesday, the state recorded 867 new infections, bringing the state’s cumulative case count to 419,055.
1,204 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19 across the state.
Maryland recorded 15 new coronavirus-related fatalities Tuesday bringing the death toll to 8,192.
The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 5.8% for positive COVID-19 tests Tuesday. This is an increase of 0.01 from Monday’s rate of 5.79%. The rate has remained above 5% since March 30.
During a media briefing Monday, Gov. Larry Hogan announced that all Marylanders ages 16 and older are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine at the state’s mass vaccination sites starting Tuesday. The first step to receive at any of the state’s mass vaccination sites is to pre-register online at covidvax.maryland.gov here or by calling the state’s COVID-19 vaccination support center at 1-865-MC-GOVAX.
According to the Maryland Department of Health, 17.393% of the state’s residents have received two doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine; and 1.629% have received the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
