Tuesday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 48 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County, bringing the total to 20,766 since the first case was reported in March. This is the lowest number since Aug. 26 when 47 cases were recorded.
With a lower rate than 15 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions, the county had a rolling seven-day average of 3.07% for positive COVID-19 tests.
Montgomery County has led the state in coronavirus-related fatalities, adding three more on Tuesday for a pandemic total of 789. Prince George’s County, however, has logged over 6,000 more cases in total since March.
The state recorded 356 new infections Tuesday, bringing its total to 113,239. This is the lowest number of new infections since July 6 when 272 new cases were recorded.
Three new deaths were reported, making the pandemic death toll 3,663.
Maryland’s seven-day rolling average for test positivity was 3.68%.
