Friday morning, the Maryland Department of Health reported 107 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County. This brings the cumulative case count to 22,185 since the start of the pandemic.
With a lower rate than 12 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions, the county had a rolling seven-day average of 2.35% for positive COVID-19 tests.
One new coronavirus-related fatality was recorded in the county Friday. The pandemic death toll is now 802. Until today, Montgomery County led the state in deaths. Friday Prince George’s County recorded three new fatalities, bringing their total to 802.
The state recorded 559 new infections Friday, bringing its total to 122,359. Seven new deaths were reported Friday, making the pandemic death toll 3,772.
The rolling seven-day average for positive COVID-19 testes continues a downward trend that began Sept. 15. Friday the state reported a rate of 2.51% which is the lowest rate since the start of the pandemic.
