Craig Melvin debuted as co-anchor, alongside Savannah Guthrie, on the Today show on NBC Monday. Melvin replaces Hoda Kotb, who co-anchored Today from 2018-2025 with Guthrie. Kotb, who left the show Friday, was feted with several on-air tributes from friends and colleagues last week.
Local TV watchers may remember Melvin when he was a weekend news anchor at NBC4 from 2008-11. He then worked for NBC News and MSNBC covering several big events like Republican and Democratic conventions, mass shootings and summer and winter Olympics.
Craig's first day as co-anchor on TODAY wrapped up after three hours of a show filled with tearful tributes, surprise appearances, special gifts and plenty of laughs. https://t.co/iAqaYcaEaN
