Tyrone Joseph Curtis was arrested April 14 in connection with an April 5 fatal stabbing of a Rockville man.
Curtis, 34 of Washington, D.C., is accused of killing Amontae Robert Cunningham, 34, after the two were involved in a verbal altercation on a Metro bus.
According to Montgomery County Police, the two men were arguing while on the bus. Curtis then pulled out a knife. The bus driver was able to deescalate the situation, however the argument continued.
The driver then stopped the bus on Amherst Avenue, and Cunningham got off. Curtis followed him off, and then allegedly stabbed him, according to police.
Cunningham was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
Curtis, who is charged with first-degree murder was taken into custody on University Boulevard West in Silver Spring. He is being held without bond. His preliminary hearing is set for May 12.
