Damascus Library Closes Soon for Extensive Renovations

The Damascus branch of Montgomery County Public Libraries will close on Jan. 31 for about 21 months.

The library and senior center on 9701 Main Street will undergo renovations before reopening in the Fall of 2026.

Both the library, senior center and shared common areas will be upgraded to improve accessibility, comfort and functionality for visitors. Some of the improvements include improved flooring and painting and the purchase of new furniture.

A customer service desk will be built for better service. Other improvements include study spaces, window replacements, roof repair and HVAC improvements.

“This renovation is a major investment in the future of Damascus,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “By improving both the library and senior center, we are enhancing the experience for our residents and ensuring these spaces serve future generations. These updates will help us provide a vibrant, inclusive community space.”

Residents who normally use the Damascus library can visit other library branches and take advantage of all digital services and resources of the library system.
