Would he play or not? Jayden Daniels’ status for the Chicago Bears game was up in the air until a few hours before kickoff when the Commanders announced he would start one week after suffering a rib injury.
Daniels played well enough but was not at the level he displayed the first seven games. The Commanders dominated most of the game but somehow found themselves facing a stunning, inexplicable loss.
The Bears trailed 12-7 with 23 seconds remaining when running back Roschon Johnson scored from one yard out to give the visitors their first lead of the game. A 2-point conversion put the Bears up 15-12.
The Commanders had one last chance. With just 2 ticks of the clock remaining and the ball at their own 48, Daniels heaved a pass into a mass of players at the 3 yard line, the ball was tipped right into the hands of Commanders receiver Noah Brown who was somehow uncovered in the end zone for a 52-yard miracle game-winner.
Commanders pull off an impossible 18-15 victory to improve to 6-2 for the first time since 2008.
