D.C. resident 30 year old Joshua Grice was convicted on charges of first-degree rape and burglary-home invasion for breaking into a home and sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl while she was sleeping. According to the charging papers, the crimes occurred in late November of 2021 in Takoma Park.
Grice faces a minimum of 25 years in prison and a possible life sentence for the crimes. His sentencing hearing will be held on September 22.
State’s Attorney John McCarthy made the following statement in connection with the case: “This violent offender preyed on a young, innocent child. Due to the efforts of the Montgomery County Crime Lab, Montgomery County Police and our trial team, justice is being served. We also want to recognize the Tree House Child Advocacy Center for its impactful work in cases involving vulnerable victims.”
