Following the resignation of the entire Montgomery County Planning Board last week, Council President Gabe Albornoz says the council is moving forward expeditiously to help appoint new temporarily acting commissioners. The deadline for interested county residents to apply is Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 5 p.m.
Albornoz explained the appointment process for the temporary members at a weekly media briefing on Monday.
Albornoz also thanked Acting Director Tanya Stern for her “proactive outreach to the council and the work she and her team have undertaken, and are working on now to help make sure that we can transition the temporary members on board as quickly as possible.”
The council intends to have five new temporary members on the Planning Board by Oct. 27. Shortly thereafter, the advertising for the appointment of the permanent positions will begin. However, Albornoz emphasized that the next elected council will decide on that appointment since the process will take approximately two months.
