Friday, December 15
Wisconsin Place Holiday Puppet Show: Children up to five will enjoy this holiday-themed puppet show featuring Rafus the Red Nosed Rain Dog. Head over to the Wisconsin Place Recreation Center for the free show that starts at 10 a.m. The center is located at 5311 Friendship Boulevard in Chevy Chase. Washington Chorus Presents A Candlelight Christmas: The Washington Chorus returns to The Music Center at Strathmore for the “A Candlelight Christmas!” performance Friday, Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $44. Holiday Fun at the Museum: Throughout December, the Gaithersburg Community Museum will have fun activities for visitors of all ages, including games, puzzles, arts and crafts, and picture books. Ross Boddy Cocoa and Crafts: Enjoy a hot cocoa bar and crafting at the Ross Boddy Recreation Center in Sandy Spring, Saturday, Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Different crafts will be available for different ages. Deck the Halls with Spaghetti and Meatballs: Enjoy a jazz concert, free family dinner, ice skating, s’mores, arts and crafts and a hot cocoa bar Saturday, Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. at the Good Hope Recreation Center in Silver Spring. The concert begins at 5 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Jazz vocalist Dominique Bianco starts the evening with jazz standards and original songs. Dinner and activities follow at 6 p.m. Free but registration is required. The Winter Jubilee: Children and families can enjoy games, arts and crafts, face painting, balloons, and fun costumed characters Saturday, Dec. 15 from 1-4 p.m. at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre. Celebration Market: The Wheaton Arts Parade hosts this market on Saturdays and Sundays during December from noon-5 p.m. The market features the work of local artists and makers and includes music, treats, and a holiday craft for kids. The market is located in Westfield Wheaton Mall on the lower level next to entrance 11. For more information, click here.
Parol Lantern Workshop: Create a festive parol which is a traditional ornamental Filipino lantern at this holiday workshop. Learn about the cultural significance of the parol. Storytime for Kids: The People’s Book is doing their weekly storytime where authors read aloud from their work.
