Del. Jheanelle Wilkins (D-20) is the new chair of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland. She was its vice chair.
Wilkins, who is a Democrat, will lead the organization and its 64 member legislators. The Silver Spring resident has been a state delegate since January 2017.
She has served for nine years on the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. She also serves as the director of state and local government affairs.
