Ariana Kelly, who has been a delegate since Jan. 12, 2011, was sworn in Monday as District 16’s senator. She replaces Sen. Susan Lee, who Gov. Wes Moore appointed as secretary of state.
As a delegate, Kelly served as deputy majority whip since 2016 and was vice chair of the legislature’s Health and Government Operations Committee and chaired the Health Occupations and Long Term Care Subcommittee.
Kelly was born in Bethesda and attended Walter Johnson High School before studying history at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I’m thrilled to announce I will be sworn in to the Maryland Senate on Mon. Thank you @iamwesmoore for your confidence in me, and thanks to the voters of D16 (Bethesda, North Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Potomac) for electing me 4 times to represent our community in the House pic.twitter.com/HoBomGbclj
