The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Wheaton Urban District are hosting an Arbor Day celebration on April 28.
A tree planting will take place in Wheaton Veterans Urban Park. The ceremony runs from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a raffle for a free tree and light refreshments. County Executive Marc Elrich and the County Council will attend the event, according to DEP.
The tree planting is part of DEP’s efforts to create more tree canopies. By encouraging tree planting, DEP aims to help the environment, improve mental health and beautify the community.
