The Olney Theatre Center held a pie eating and baked pie contest on Saturday as a tie-in to their ongoing musical, Waitress. Jean Krueger from Derwood won the Baked Pie Contest.

Krueger’s pie, described as “sweet”, “crumbly,” and “homely” by the judges, was an apple crumbly pie which originated from a 1970’s “Great American Recipes” card. Krueger said that her daughter had previously won a baked pie contest at the Montgomery County Fair using the same recipe, so she thought she would see if it could win again, it did.
Krueger and McNally will each receive two tickets for future performances at the Olney Theatre Center.
