Detectives Investigating Robbery at Giant Food in Bethesda

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a strong-arm robbery inside the Giant Food grocery store on Arlington Road in Bethesda. The robbery occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on June 25.  

Officers from the 2nd District responded to the scene after a robbery report. According to an ongoing investigation, the suspect entered Giant and attempted to return stolen merchandise for a cash refund. When the suspect could not return the merchandise, the suspect punched an employee in the face, seized an undisclosed amount of cash from another employee, and then left the scene, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police. 

Detectives have released surveillance photos of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

The suspect is described as a Black male, between thirty and forty years old, approximately 5-feet, 10-inches tall, 200 lbs, with a beard, heavy set, wearing a black baseball cap, a white t-shirt, blue jean shorts, black sneakers and a black backpack.
